THE CRAG
The crag is located roughly 1.5 km from the port, on the way to Apollonia. The rock is grey and red limestone, of good quality. Climbing styles vary, from vertical or positive angle slabs with cracks, small boulders and handholds to slightly negative angles and colonnades. Max altitude is roughly 25m Safety measures are tailored for those keen to explore their limit. Routes range from 5c to 7a.
The Mines is a 15-route crag, created in 2019 by Dimitris Titopoulos and Antonis Tsesmetzoglou, who were commissioned by the Municipal Community Enterprise of Sifnos.
Grey and red limestone, of good quality. Climbing styles vary, from vertical or positive angle slabs with cracks, small boulders and handholds to slightly negative angles and colonnades. Each route base has nametags.
There are 15 routes of 15 m to 25 m altitude, ranging between 5c to 7a. Safety measures (inox bolts and plates as well as inox carabiner belays) are ideal for those keen to explore their limits.
Rope recommended, at least 60m, 15 sets, baudrier, belay device, helmet, climbing shoes.
Spring, summer and fall present ideal conditions. The crag points to the north and lies in the shade for most of the day.
The crag is located at Kamares, Sifnos, and at a distance of 1.6 km from the central parking lot at the port.
ACCESS
Metalia: Green Route
On foot
Starting at Kamares square, head left towards Agia Marina. In 350m, right after the camping park, turn right at the alley that leads to the dry river “Livadas” bank, at about 800m Continue along the bank (a dirt road now) for another 400m, turn right and enter main road. Continue left, towards Apollonia for 50m and uphill on the right towards the mountain, following the signposts. The crag lies at 400m.

By car
Take the road to Apollonia for 1,500m Continue uphill, on foot, for the remaining 200m.
