THE CRAG
The crag can be accessed through Kamares and overlooks the main Kamares beach. Routes are max 30m and, optionally, longer. Rock is grey and red limestone, of good quality. Routes are mostly slabs with handholds, small boulders and hidden pinches. Ideal to climb after 10:00 in the summertime due to its NE orientation. Grades range from 5b to 7b.
The Nymfeo is a 28-route crag, created in 2019 by Dimitris Titopoulos and Antonis Tsesmetzoglou, who were commissioned by the Municipal Community Enterprise of Sifnos.
Grey and red limestone, of good quality. Face with handholds, small boulders and hidden pinches. Route bases have nametags. The crag is split into 3 units. First one starts beneath the cave and the other two lie further out, to the west.
There are 28 routes, 12 . to 30m in altitude, graded 5b to 7b. All routes feature fairly regular safety measures with inox bolts and plates as well as belays with inox carabiners. Route no 1 features rope swings!
Rope recommended, at least 70m, 16 sets, baudrier, belay device, helmet, climbing shoes.
Spring, summer and fall present ideal conditions. Ideal to climb after 10:00 in the summertime due to its NE orientation.
The crag is located at Kamares, Sifnos, and at a distance of 600m from the central parking lot at the port.
ACCESS
Nymfeo: Blue Route
On foot
Starting at Kamares square, head out towards Apollonia. In 150m turn right at Nymfon street and continue up the dirt road, towards the settlement’s water tank. At the right side of the tank lies a passage that cuts through the dry river and, from there, following signposts, up to the crag.
Total distance from Kamares square: 700m; from parking lot: 600m; from camping park: 850m.
By car
Distance from Kamares parking is only 600m and there is no need for a car, as the largest part of the trail is a rough dirt road morphing into a pathway.
